Meeting Minutes Sept.8, 2010 Sept. 10 By Iris At first I want to say sorry to Hubert and all fellow members! I’ve been busy with a business trip to Singapore and Indonesia recently (and I will miss the next two CHIC meetings, too, what a pity!), so it’s probably the latest minute… (I hope not the worst at the same time!) Please at least pretend to enjoy it!
MEETING THEME: Both Format & Content
Open-Meeting Chair: Phil Phil, long time no see! You said you really missed all of us, so did we! And I’m sure you had really MISSED a lot of changes occurred in CHIC, from new members joining in to fantastic conferences! I hope we will never MISS you again!
Toastmaster: Connie Connie, you first connect the time of this meeting with the coming Mid-Autumn Festival (also remind me of our ex-venue which is probably filled with MOONCAKES now!). Then, you connect this Chinese tradition with the theme of this meeting: Format & Content, which are both important to ensure a success. Finally, you connect this theme with the quality of CHIC’s meeting, and express thanks to our wonderful schedulers on behalf of all CHICers – really impressing skill of “CONNECTION”! As a CHICer, you really show your talent of imagination!
Timer: Lisa Humorous as always even play the role of Timer! You added this role a NEW CHIC DEFINITION: punishment tool, though you took this role only because you’re a senior and experienced CHICer. And congratulation for passing this “time keeping spirit” down!
Ah Counter: Vivian Li Talented public speaker I must say! Very relaxed on stage, Vivian! But I had to say, your math score must be as awful as mine, for you totally lose your counting for all the Ahs.
Grammarian: Ivy Chang I really like the word of the day you brought us! All CHICers together must have thousands of millions of tons of CHARISMA!
Greeter: Charlie I like Caesar’s question! And I want to add one more: How many guys in CHIC...available? Please try to give an answer next time!
Prepared Speaker 1 – Extreme Pleasure is Followed by Sorrow: Crystal I believe I’ve fully understood what you mean by “extreme pleasure is followed by sorrow” after hearing your authentic and bitter story. If, in the future, I have the idea of telling my Mr. Right to give a piggyback, I’ll definitely do a second thought! BTW, your visual aids are very persuasive and helpful to strengthen your topic. What a pity jade bracelet! And what a pity boyfriend! (If you want to say: I didn’t see Crystal’s boyfriend, please use your imagination!)
Prepared Speaker 2 - Lost: Gale As Caesar said that day (he was talking on behalf of our evaluation group~), you’re a really sincere, reliable and responsible speaker, with your devoted eye-contact by big shining eyes! Caesar was right: find your own style of delivering a speech and you’ll be the next rising star in CHIC! BTW, I, on behalf of myself, really like the inspiring topic of your speech. And I think as a opening, you may ask a question like: how much of you don’t have the sense of direction and get lost all the time? I must be the first one raising my hand!
Table Topic Master: Hubert I’d like to bet you 1,000,000,000 Kuai that you did an IMPROMPTU Table Topic Session and I really admire the idea! By your deep understanding of other fellow members, you raised each question in relation to each speaker, and showed us a different but more exciting Table Topic Session! By the way, I believe you must have some talent in PREDICTION, for the question you asked Jonah that night…
Table Topic Speaker 1: Caesar You showed me how “everywhere” you can that night, and I appreciate your attitude of “embracing the changes”! You repeated, Chang Chun people, I’m coming, again and again and again, it took most of your time on speech (very cunning!). BTW, you’d really rubbed off the momentum of Caesar on you!
Table Topic Speaker 2: Wendy I think I will take the second advice of ensuring the access to Chinese dishes everyday: to find a husband who can cook (maybe a gentleman from Shanghai?)!
Table Topic Speaker 3: Shirley I appreciate your idea of “doing things with preparation”, and I’d like to offer one more suggestion to you: to find some CHICers to take this trip with you, and you’ll never be bored! And of course, without Caesar!
Table Topic Speaker 4: Ou Yang If I were you, I will play job-hopping at once (maybe to Mango TV? Haha)! BTW, you’re really good at pushing all the responsibility to your boss, it’s very cool!
Table Topic Speaker 5: Carol You’re both pretty outside (format?) and smart inside (content?)! I enjoyed your speech very much, and your idea of being more interesting and more skilled is inspiring!
Table Topic Speaker 6: Walkers You’re as pretty and smart as Carol! And you’re right, CHIC is the very place you can share your stories (especially funny or awkward stories) with others. It’s why CHIC is so unique!
Table Topic Speaker 7: Jonah I must say you’re the very person to answer this question (but how did Hubert know that?!) Although you’re struck dumb for three seconds, you still did a great job, for you considered one-day-off, money-saving and being-an-uncle at the same time!
Table Topic Speaker 8: Connie If you were really in this situation, I suggest you quit the job at once and be the first full-time CHICer! I can see your talent of being a Toastmaster from your outstanding performance in this meeting!
What’s more, I want to say THANKS to all the following Evaluators: Coana (Evaluator on behalf of Group 3), Joyce (Evaluator on behalf of Group 2), Shirley (Evaluator on behalf of Group 4), Caesar (Evaluator on behalf of Group 1), Ivy Cheng (Table Topic Evaluator) & Vivian Xu (General Evaluator). Your excellent evaluation promised the speakers benefiting from the meeting!
And, THANK YOU, Hubert! I enjoyed the NEW Live Coaching Session! It’s really interesting and effective! The skills we learnt from you this time: 1. Change “I” to “U”! 2. Break a long sentence into short sentences! 3. Put “he said” in front of what he said instead of in the back! 4. Don’t just describe, just show it! (Tell us you’re “surprise” in a surprising expression!) 5. Deliver your profound message at the beginning! (An opening technique!)
And, WELCOME, Coana! Very glad to have you as our fellow members for at least two years! As Charlie said, your accent is sexy!!!
Pressed of time, I have to finish my minute here. And finally I have one more question to Hubert: Where are the sessions of Humor Around Me, Make Fun of Yourself and Jokester, and Award & Photo Time as well? I believe the former three sessions are the very part that CHIC is unique and CHIC, and the latter one is always the exciting and inspiring part (after Jonah had won his third Most Humorous Award, I decided to join CHIC at once and catch up with him ASAP!). I really miss all of them.
Expect to see you CHICers two weeks later!
