Toastmasters International Organization is divided into several Districts world-wide.  China-Hongkong-Macao entity is designated as District 85.   District 85 is further divided into 6 Divisions.  Beijing clubs are distributed across 2 of the Divisions--A and B.  Division B--to which CHIC belongs--is composed of 3 areas: 21, 22, and 23.  CHIC, once it is officially chartered, will most likely belong to area 21.

CCTMC Beijing Toastmasters Club

CHIC Toastmasters Club is an offshoot from the wonderful CCTMC (China Capital Toastmasters Club).  Because CCTMC has grown to be so big (over 50 members), the president of CCTMC (and the founder of CHIC) had aggressively planned for a split, which would reduce the membership size of the two resulting clubs, and allow each members to have better and healthier growth through more focused mentoring relationship and more speaking opportunities.

CHIC Beijing Toastmasters Meeting CHIC is a themed Toastmasters Club in Beijing.  "Themed" ,meaning that there is a particular aspect of public speaking and leadership which the club would focus on.  Currently, all of the Toastmasters Clubs in Beijing are vanilla flavored clubs:  They follow a standard template for the meetings, and are well balanced in that respect.  CHIC is an acronym for  Creativity, Humor and Imagination Club.  Therein lies the theme for the club.

"Chic", pronounced "sheek", means "Attractive, and fashionable, with style and elegance".

The Mission of the CHIC Toastmasters Club:  To provide a creative, fun, and imaginative environment for members to gain fellowship with one another, improve their oral communications skills through humor, and develop leadership skills by building the club.

How we are different from other Toastmasters clubs in Beijing, and the rest of China.

Meeting elements all designed to stimulate creativity, humor, and imagination. No stones unturned.

We believe that

  • Humor is necessary for speeches, regardless of topic
  • Creativity brings out the best in meetings and in people
  • Imagination paints color into speeches and into our lives
  • Creativity, Humor and Imagination can be fostered in everyone, even if you're an engineer

We love to be a DIFFERENT Toastmasters Club. Member participation is required, not optional.
